The first printed Advent calendars were made in Germany in the early 1900s. But they didn't catch on in the US until a newspaper photo showed President Dwight D. Eisenhower opening one with his grandchildren. A tradition was born. Printed in Germany, the same calendar is available again, only now it's a classic. The windows illuminate when placed in front of a light. Original version opens to 23" x 9". Smaller doubles as a greeting card; mailing envelope included. 12" x 4".
