Jamawar Jacquard Shawl
Born in Persia, brought to Kashmir along the trade routes, the ancient art of jamawar weaving was nearly lost. Revived by the Indian government, it is being practiced again. Royalty once bought the richly patterned fabric by the yard ("war") to wear as wraps or robes ("jama"). Woven in India in warm colors and elaborate designs (paisleys, florals), this soft, stylish shawl is fringed on both ends. Wool/viscose blend. 27½" x 78¾". Dry-clean.
