Purple Jamawar Shawl
The art of jamawar weaving-multiple colors, intricate patterns-was brought to Kashmir from Persia hundreds of years ago. Kings and nobles bought the beautiful fabric by the yard ("war") to wear as wraps or robes ("jama"). Newly revived by the Indian government, jamawar weaving is being practiced once more. Made in India of pure, soft wool, this elegant shawl is further embellished by hand-applied purple ribbon. 28" x 70". Dry-clean.
