The silver-colored coating on the word plaques soon wore off. However, I wear my jewelry 24/7, including in the shower. It now has copper-colored word plaques. The brass ornamental beads tarnished to a dark gold. The piano wire retained its color, but a couple of the 12 wires stretched out of shape (too large), and I don't take them off and put them back on very often. This would be a good item for someone who would wear it every once in a while, but it doesn't stand up to daily use.
